Se Ofrece Un Programa De Inmigracion

El Great Plains Literacy Council y Southern Prairie Library System organizarán programas de ciudadanía el martes 12 de Marzo 2019 y el miércoles 13 de Marzo de 2019 en la Biblioteca Pública de Altus, 421 N. Hudson.

El Oficial de Relaciones con la Comunidad de Inmigración y Ciudadanía de EE. UU. Jesús Ramírez de la Oficina del Distrito de Dallas llevará a cabo Sesiones de Información de Naturalización en inglés y en español en la Biblioteca Pública de Altus de 5pm a 7pm.

El martes por la noche, presentará una Sesión informativa de naturalización en inglés.

Luego, el miércoles por la noche, presentará una sesión de información de naturalización en español.

Ambas reuniones se centrarán en preguntas que a menudo hacen los extranjeros residentes y sus familias. No hay ningún costo para asistir.

“Grate” Altus 2019 Spelling Bee

GPLC will hold its annual fundraising event on Saturday, March 30 at the Pioneer Heritage Center at WOSC, 2801 N. main, Altus.

Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The event will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.

The “Grate” Spelling Bee is a fun way to increase awareness of GPLC and to continue our free services to empower Jackson and Harmon County residents through improved literacy skills.

Citizenship Presentation with USCIS

February 26, 2019

Two Events: one in English and one in Spanish

On March 12 & 13, 2019 GPLC & the Altus Public Library will host two Immigration and Citizenship information events.

Both events will begin at 6:00 pm and will be presented by Jesus Ramirez, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Community Relations Officer, from the Dallas Regional Office.

On Tuesday evening the session will be conducted in English; on Wednesday evening the session will be in Spanish.

Tutor Talks – Training

We will have regularly scheduled training sessions for both new and experienced tutors. In addition, tutors have access to all of the resources on the ProLiteracy website.

Local training is free and tailored to individual tutor/learner needs. ProLiteracy online training is free with GPLC’s membership. Contact us for the member code to enter for training.

Tai Chi for Better Balance

Tai Chi – Classes begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday March 1, 2019 at the Altus Public Library.

The class will meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10:30 – 11:30 am for twelve weeks.

Tai Chi for Better Balance is offered free of charge through a partnership between the Jackson County Health Department and the Great Plains Literacy Council.

GPLC’s Health Literacy outreach is funded through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries with a federal grant from the Institute of Museums and Library Services.
